Gestreepte vrouw serie / Striped lady serie

Nieuw (voor mij) is deze stans waarbij een gestreept vrouwen silhouet in een frame uitgestanst word. Ik vind het best lastig als je door een stans beperkt word in de grootte van wat je maakt, maar denk dat deze serie van drie wel goed aangeeft dat ik deze toch op verschillend manieren kon gebruiken:

New (to me) is this die that cuts out a striped silhouette of a woman within a frame, I find it quite challenging when a sie limits the size of what I'm creating, but I think this series of three clearly shows that I was able to use it in various ways after all:

Ik ging weer verder met de 'city stempel' en de serie, maar wilde iets anders maken dan de vorige drie (die kun je hier en hier en hier vinden) en heb dus wel dezelfde elementen gebruikt, met dezelfde kleuren als de derde, maar nu met een vrouw die meer in de tijd van de stad past zoals die gestempeld is.... 

Dit is echt het laatste project voor nu, al heb ik nog wel wat andere ideeën met deze 'city stempel'.

I continued again with the 'city stamp' and the series, but wanted to create something different as the previous three (wich you can find here and here and here), so while using the same elements, I went for the same colors as the third one, but now with a woman wich is more of the time of the city as it is stamped... 

This really is the last project for now, although I do have a few other ideas for this 'city stamp'.

Ik ging verder met de 'city stempel' en de serie, maar wilde een contrast maken met de eerste twee (die kun je hier en hier vinden) en heb dus wel dezelfde elementen gebruikt, maar met heel andere kleuren. En deze heeft een twist; deze man zal misschien wel in deze stad hebben gewoont, maar dat is al een tijdje geleden; ik denk dat hij in de tijd verdwaald is...

I continued with the 'city stamp' and the series, but wanted to create a contrast with the first two (wich you can find here and here), so while using the same elements, I went for completely different colors. 

And there's a twist: this man might well have lived in this city, but I think that was quite some time ago. I think he's lost in time...

Soms zie je een stempel waarbij je meteen zoveel ideeën hebt... en dit was er zo een... Op een van de stempeldonderdagmiddagen heb ik deze stempel meegenomen en ben ermee aan de slag gegaan. Ik was eerst van plan gewoon de stempel een keer te gebruiken en 'm dan op te ruimen tot een andere keer, maar dan zou het een hele tijd duren voor ik wat van mijn andere ideeën op papier zou krijgen, dus heb ik een serie van 4 projecten gemaakt. Ik heb geprobeerd met dezelfde soort dingen (de stempel, aquarelpapier, inkt, een kwast en water en een afbeelding van een persoon) verschillende dingen tot uiting te brengen...

Dit is de eerste:

Sometmes you come across a stamp that instantly sparks so many ideas... and this was one of them. I took the stamp along to one of my stamping Thursday afternoons and got to work with it. I planned to just used the stamp once and put it away for another time, but that would have meant a long wait begore I could bring my other ideas to life. So instead, I created a series of four projects. I tried to express something different with the same basic elements (the stamp, watercolorpaper, ink, a brush and water, and an image of a person.

Genieten aan het strand / Enjoying the beach

Een tijd terug heb ik wat Whimpsy stempels over genomen van een voormalig DT-lid van dat merk. Ik hou niet van de 'cute'-stempels waar dat merk het meest bekend om is, maar wel van wat scéne- en ondeugende stempels die ze mondjesmaat over de jaren uit hebben gebracht. 

Deze bijvoorbeeld; het was heerlijk om deze in te kleuren en gelukkig vond ik bijpassend papier...

A while back I bought some Whimpsy stamps from a former DT-member from that branche. I don't like the 'cute'stamps that the brand is best known for, but I do like some of the scene and bit cheeky stamps they've released sparingly over the years. 

This one was a delight to color and luckily I found some matching paper...

Nog een project die ik maakte met een van de achtergronden die al wat jaren in mijn achtergrondendoos zat. Ditmaal weer een Gelliplate achtergrond, nu gemaakt met een echt blad.

Na nog een keer door mijn achtergrondendoos gegaan te zijn heb ik deze eruit gehaald. Ooit gemaakt om twee verschillende Gelliplates (van verschillende merken) met elkaar te vergelijken. 

Op zo'n best felle achtergrond wou ik iets speels en dan is het leuk om iets dat ook iets liefs als contrast te gebruiken. Na even denken kwam ik uit bij een van de Gorjuss meisjes. 

En ik deed iets wat ik meestal probeer te vermijden; ik stempelde haar op een los stuk papier en kleurde haar in en knipte haar uit (dat laatste vind ik dus echt niks...).

Ze kwam niet zo heel erg goed naar voren, dus heb ik een niet te groot hart getekend en uitgeknipt om haar daarop te zetten. Nog de tekst uit de set gestempeld en zo heb ik weer een van mijn achtergronden gebruikt die al een paar jaar lag te wachten...

After looking through my box of backgrounds once more, I choose this one. I had made it a while back to compare two different Gelli Plates (from different brands). Since the background was quite bold, I wanted something playful; it’s nice to use something sweet as a contrast in a case like that. After giving it some thought, I settled on one of the Gorjuss girls.

I also did something I usually try to avoid: I stamped her onto a separate piece of paper, colored her in, and cut her out (I really dislike that last part...).

She didn't stand out very well, so I drew and cut out a heart—not too big—to place her on. I stamped the sentiment from the set, and just like that, I used up another one of those backgrounds that had been waiting around for a few years...

In de wind / In the wind

De afgelopen dagen heeft het wat meer en harder gewaaid en daardoor vond ik deze windmolen wel iets om te gebruiken. Ik heb met een fijnschrijver de afbeelding wat vergroot en wat meer in een omgeving gezet. In zwat/wit zag het er al leuk uit, maat ik heb er toch nog een klein beetje kleur aan gegeven.

The last few days it has been more windy, and that is why I thought this windmill stamp would be a good one to use. I used a fine-liner to enlarge the image slightly and place the windmill in a bit more of a setting. It looked nice in black and white, but I decided to add just a touch of color after all.

Rozen / Roses

Al even geleden kocht ik een serie gelaagde/'layering' stencils. Ik had geen zin om ze allemaal achter elkaar te gebruiken, dus bleven er een aantal liggen. Toen ik ze op een donderdag zag toen ik wat spullen bij elkaar aan het zoeken was om mee te nemen naar de stempel donderdagmiddag heb ik deze eruit gevist om een achtergrond mee te maken.

Ik starte met het stempelen van de vrouw en maskerde haar. Daarna heb ik de gelaagde/'layered' rozen in drie tinten roze door de stencils gesponst. Toen met 2 kleuren groen de achtergrond gesponst en haar ingekleurd. Nog even de randen gesponsd en dat was het voorlopig. Weer thuis heb ik er een tekst bij gezocht en vond ik 'm wel af...

A while ago I bought a serie layered stencils. I didn't felt like using them all in one go, so a few were left sitting there. On a Thursday, while gathering supplies to take to my stamping Thursday afternoon, I picked them out to create a background. 

I started by stamping the woman and masking her off. Then I sponged tree shades of pink through the stencils to create the layered roses.  Next I sponged the background using two shades of green and colored the woman. I finished by sponging the edges and that was that for the moment. Back home I found a sentiment to go with it and it felt like the project was complete...

Nog een boswandeling / Another walk through the wood

Nog een achtergrond die al heel lang in mijn doos lag. Ik vond gewoonweg geen stempel van mensen die ik erbij wilde zetten die qua afmeting 'klopten'. Maar een tijdje terug bestelde ik deze en waarempel; het pastte! Nog alles wat meeer kleur gegeven en dat was het... Ik ben er niet helemaal blij mee hoe het geheel geworden is, maar dat komt omdat ik alles op een stuk papier met opgedepte inkt ben begonnen jaren terug...

Another background wich was in my background box for a long time. I just didn't find a stamp from people that I wanted to put onit from wich the sizes matched. But, a while back I ordered these and they fitted! I put some more color on the paper and that was it... I'm not entirely happy with how this one turned out, but that is becouse I started on a piece of paper with some blotted ink years ago...

Kussend 2 / Kissing 2

Natuurlijk hield ik na het maken van dit project ook weer een getrokken print /achtergrond over... Die was weer wat minder duidelijk, dus heb ik het stencil erop gelegd en met rood erdoor gesponst. Daarna heb ik verschillende kleine stempels in zwart en rood gestempeld en er een tekst bij gezocht. Dezelfe techniek gebruikte ik hier en hier ook al eens

Of course I was left with another pulled print/background after finishing this project... That one was not quite clear, I placed a stencil over it and sponged red ink through ot. Then I stamped various small images in black and red ink and selecred a tekst ro go with it. I used the same technique here and here earlier.

Als een achtergrond al heel wat jaren in de doos zit en je blijft 'm vaak te mooi vinden om er iets op te zetten, moet je gewoonweg op zoek gaan naar iets dat niet te veel 'impact' heeft en waarbij je alleen maar met zwart erop hoeft te werken.

Ik geloof dat dat op deze achtergrond wel gelukt is...

When a background sits in the backgroundbox for many years and you kep om finding it too beautiul to put something over it, you just have to look for something that hasn't too much 'impact' and with wich toy only need to work with black. I think it worked on this background

Ik zie haar vliegen / I see her flying

Zoals ik in de vorige post al schreef heb ik twee nazomer scenes gemaakt. Hier vind je de eerste en vandaag dus de tweede...

Ik had de leuke zonnebloemen van Lavinia dit jaar nog niet gebruikt, dus dat werd hoog tijd! En die vind ik perfect passen bij nazomerse dagen, al zijn ze dit jaar net als alle bloemen veel sneller weer uitgebloeit in het 'eggie'; het is gewoon te vroeg te warm geweest...

Maar dus wel op mijn kaart en gecombineerd met de nieuwste heksenstempel van Lavinia...

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve created two late-summer scenes. You saw the first one here, and today here is the second...

I hadn't yet used Lavinia’s lovely sunflower stamps this year, so it was time I did! I think they are perfect for late-summer days, even though, in real life, they (like all flowers this year) finished blooming much sooner than usual; it simply got too hot too early...

But here they are on my card, combined with Lavinia’s newest witch stamp...

Oogst maan / Harvast moon

En dan komen er nieuwe stempels van Lavinia uit en wil je die gelijk bestellen, omdat het heel langzaam weer tijd word om oogst-, herfst- en halloween- scenes te maken. Gelukkig had ik ze heel snel binnen en kon ik er de stempeldonderdagmiddag erna meteen mee aan de slag...

Zoals elke maand is er weer een nieuwe challenge bij Lavinia, dit keer met als thema; "Harvast moon".

Ik ben er nog niet helemaal klaar voor om in de herfst te duiken; ik hou van nazomeren... Dus heb ik eindelijk twee keer een na-zomer tafereel gemaakt. Dit is de eerste:

And then Lavinia releases new stamps, and you want to order them right away because it’s slowly getting the time to create harvest-, autumn-, and Halloween- scenes. Fortunately, they arrived very quickly, so I was able to start working with them that very next "Stamp Thursday" afternoon...

As always, there’s a new challenge from Lavinia this month—this time with the theme "Harvest Moon."

I’m not quite ready to dive into autumn yet; I love the lingering warmth of late summer... So, I ended up creating two late-summer scenes. This is the first one:

Deze dame ziet er zomers uit.  Zij kan natuurlijk zomers de koelte van het bos of een park opzoeken. Hier loopt ze tussen de bomen op het pad, iets veel koelers dan op de stenen in de zon...

Gewoon een stencil, een stempel, wat kleur en een beetje tekenen met dit als resultaat:

Als ik niet op je blog kom kijken, komt dat doordat mijn blogrol niet goed werkt op het moment. Ik zie steeds minder, soms maar 3-5 nieuwe posts op een dag en weet dat dat niet klopt... Ik hoop dat jij hier geen last van hebt...

If I don't come check your blog, it is because my blogrol doesn't seem to work corectly in the minute. I see less and less, sometimes only 3-5 new posts in ine day and I now that can't be right... I hope you don't have the same problem...

Natuurlijk hou je als je het stencil schoonmaakt ook weer een achtergrond over. Van het stencil dat ik hier gebruikte trok ik ook weer een print. Die gaf de afbeelding niet zo heel duidelijk weer, dus heb ik het stencil er weer opgelegd en daardoor met DI markers getekend, die ik later, nadat ik het stencil eraf had gehaald, weer uitgewassen heb met een kwast en wat water.

Nog een tekst erbij en dat was het... 

Ik laat hier alles zien wat ik maak; per jaar zijn er misschien 2-3 dingen waar ik aan begin er waar de stempelhulp verschoof of het papier niet het helemaal juiste was voor de techniek die ik aan het doen was die halverwege in de papierbak belanden. Hoe doe jij dat? Mogen alleen die projecten waar je helemaal tevreden over bent op je blog komen? Of laat jij ook alles zien?

Of course cleaning the stencil leaves you with yet again a background print as well.  pulled a print from the stencil I used here; it didn't show the image very clearly, so I placed the stencil over it and drew the it by using Distress markers. I blended it out with water and a brush after removing the stencil.

Just added some text and some new washitape and that was it...

I show everything I make here; perhaps two or thee times a year I start a project and the stamphelp shifts or the paper isn't suitable for the technique I am doing, and that ends up in the paperbin halfway through. How do you handle it? Do you only post projects you're completely happy with on your blog? Or do you show everything?

Dit is het project dat ik niet meer af kreeg op de stempel donderdagmiddag dat ik de vorige 10 projecten maakte. (Ja echt; niet schrikken; ik maakte 10 projecten in een middag!) Dus kwam die in mijn hobbykamertje op tafel te liggen en ik heb er een tijdje over kunnen denken wat ik er na het sponzen van de dame die even pauze neemt nog meer op wilde maken. 

Natuurlijk moest er een tekst op komen, maar wat nog meer?

Uiteindelijk kwam het er pas de volgende stempel donderdagmiddag van dat ik deze afmaakte, maar toen ging het ook heel snel, doordat het idee al een tijdje in mijn hoofd zat...

Ik heb alleen heel  lichtjes gesponst met verschillende kleuren Distress inkt en een tekst erbij gestempeld.

This is the project that I didn't got to finish on the stamping Thursday afternoon when I created the previous ten projects. (Yes really; I made 10 projects in ine afternoon!) So it sat on the table in my little craftroom, giving me time to think what I would like to do with it after sponging the woman who is taking a break.

Of course there had to be a text on it, but what else?

I didn't got around to finish it until the following stamping Thursday afternoon, but when I finished it then, it came together rather quickly, because the idea had been in my head for a while...

 I simply sponged it very lightly with various colors of Distress ink and stamped a text on it.

Op de achtergrond vind je hier de inkt van de man en de vrouw stencil uit de posten hier en hier. Daar overheen heb ik een nieuwe stempel gezet. Het is er eentje die Josje ook heeft, maar die ik zo leuk vond dat ik 'm zelf ook graag wilde hebben om 'm vaker te kunnen gebruiken. Dus hrb ik deze besteld... Je zult deze vast nog wel vaker tegenkomen op projecten van me...

On the background rom this project you find the ink from the man and from the woman stencil from the posts here and here. On top of them I stamped a new stamp. It is one that Josje owns aswel, but one I liked so much that I wanted to have it myself to be able to use it more often. So I ordered it... You will see this one oter in my projects...
