Weer terug op het 'oude honk'/ Back on familiar ground

Onze dochter heeft voor haar studie zo'n 5 maanden in Wales gewoond en heeft haar eigen studio een half jaar moeten missen. Ons huis was in die tijd wat voller met alle spullen die gedurende die tijd bij ons gestald werden, zodat ze haar studio kon onderhuren om te betalen voor een studio in Wales... En natuurlijk hadden we al die tijd haar poes Latte bij ons. Afgelopen weekend kreeg ze haar sleutel weer terug, en, na wat schoonmaken en een keer rijden is ze nu weer gesetteld op haar eigen 'stekkie'. Daar hoorde vond ik, ook een kaartje bij, dus op een van de stempeldonderdagmiddagen heb ik deze voor haar gemaakt:

Our daughter has lived for 5 months in Wales for her study and had to miss her own studio for a half year. Our house was a bit more filled with all the things that had to be put somewhere else, so she could sublet her studio in order to pay the rent for a studio in Wales... And ofcourse her cat Latte was with us all that time. Last weekend she got her key back and, after some cleaning and driving, she now is settled back into her own place. That called for a card I thought, so on one of the stamping Thursday afternoons I made this one for her:

Vader en dochter print 2 / Father and daughter print 2

Als je dan een stencil schoonmaakt op aquarelpapier, kun je proberen er een tweede print van te 'trekken'. Dat deed ik met het stencil dat ik voor mijn vaderdag kaart (hier) gebruikte ook. Je krijgt dan een veel vagere afdruk, waarbij vaak alleen de kleuren met veel pigment te zien zijn. Dat gebeurde hier ook. Dus heb ik het stencil drooggemaakt en er andersom op gelegd en ben toen er weer doorheen gaan blenden en kleuren met inkt en water. Eenmaal thuis heb ik deze afgemaakt met wasgitape en een vellum tekst

If you clean a stencil on watercolor paper, you can try to 'draw' a second print from it. I did that with the stencil I used for my Father's day card (here) as well. You get a much lighter print, where often only the highly pigmented colors are visible. Rhat happened here too.  So I dried the stencil and placed it upsife fown, and started blending partsn of it and coloring it with ink and water. Once home I finished this one with washitape and a vellum sentiment.

Er is niets heerlijkers dan spelen met water en inkt en stempels en/of stencils vind ik... En dus was het niet meer dan logisch dat ik na het maken van mijn vaderdagkaart (hier) het stencil schoonmaakte op een stuk aquarelpapier. Je weet van te voren niet of er een mooie print vanaf komt, maar deze vond ik dus weer mooi en wilde ik meteen gebruiken. Ik had geen dingen meegenomen die ik kon gebruiken om deze af te maken, dus met het warme weer heb ik deze tussen alles door  deze thuis af gemaakt. Het enige dat ik er verder aan toegevoegd heb is wat washitape en een tekst.

Het was weer een warme nacht, ondanks onweer en regen en het word alweer een te warme dag... ik ben er helemaal klaar mee... Ik hoop echt dat het vanaf maandag 'maar' 27 graden word...

I think there is nothing more delightful than playing with water, ink, stamps and/or stencils... So ot was inly logical that after maling my atger day card (here), I cleaned the stencil on a piece of watercolor paper. You never know in advance i it will produce a nice print, but I thought this obe looked beautiful and I wanted to use it immediately. I hadn't brought anything along that I could use to finish it, so with the warm weather, I finished this at home in between everything else. The only thing I added to it is somw washitape and a sentiment.

It was again a warm night altough it rained and we had thunder and lightning, it is going to be a too hot day... I'm totally done with it... Hoping that from Monday it really will be only 27 degrees...

Op het feest / At the party

Omdat ik op die ene donderdagmiddag alleen al 7 prints 'trok' toen ik mijn stencils schoonmaakte, kun je wel begrijpen dat mijn achtergrondendoos niet gauw leeg zal raken. (En ook het DP word zo niet minder; ik maak steeds zelf achtergronden...)

Dus probeer ik vaak meteen als ik ze gemaakt heb er ook een heel aantal van te gebruiken, Dit was de laatste die ik op een van de stempeldonderdagmiddagen gebruikte en deze kwam van toen ik het stencil schoonmaakte van dit project. Ik heb er twee feestende RongRong dames en een tekst op gestempeld en heb er thuis nog wat washitape bijgezocht.

Because I on just one stamping thursday afternoon already took 7 'prints' when I cleaned my stencils, you can understand that my background box won't be empty any time soon. (And also the DP won't decrease this way either; I almost always make my own backgrounds...) So I often try to use quite a few of them immediately after I made them. This was the last one I used on one of the stamping thursday afternoons and it cane from cleaning the stencil for this project. I stamped two partying RongRong ladies and a text on it and picked some washitape to go with it when I was home again.

Tussen sterren heen en weer... / Between stars back and forth

Deze zwarte ondergrond met sterren erop ligt echt al heel lang in de achtergrondendoos. Ik vind 'm leuk, maar er moet duidelijk wat op. Tussen mijn stencils heb ik er een liggen met verschillende schommelende dames. Een van die probeerde ik uit op het zwart en de sterren. Het geet niet helemaal het effect dat ik verwacht had, maar mislukt is deze ook niet. Dus heb ik er nog wat sterren opgeplakt en wat washistape erbij gepakt. Dit is een project dat tijdens het maken steeds verandere, tot ik het wel genoeg vond.  Niet hoe ik het in gedachten  had en niet 100% naar m'n zin, maar het was heerlijk om hieraan bezig te zijn...

This background with the stars on it has really been sitting in the background box for a very long time. I like it, but clearky it is lacking a lot. Among my stencils I have one with swinging ladies. So I tried one of them in the black and the stars. The effect isn;t what I expected, but it isn't bad eighter. So I glued some more stars on it and grabbed some washitape. This is a project that kept on changing while I was making it, until I elt it was enoough. Not how I had envisioned it and not 100% to my liking, but it was lovely making this one...

Opwarmen / Warming up

Dit is alweer de laatste in deze serie waarbij ik prints trok van stencils die ik gebruikte om doorheen te sponzen.

Rood en blauw zijn kleuren die je moeilijker ergens van af kunt krijgen en dat merkte ik ook weer toen ik een rood beïnkt stencil op aquarelpapier schoonmaakte; ook op een 2e stuk papier kreeg ik een leuke achtergrond daarvanaf. Met wat gestempelde, ingekleurde en uitgeknipte kaarsen en washitape en stickerfiguren is dit project precies geworden wat ik bij het begin als idee had: 

This is already the last one of this serie on wich I pulled prints from stencils that I used to sponge through.

Red and blue are colors yiu don't get of of somethng easy and that was what I notoced when I cleaned a stencil with that had red ink on it.; the 2nd print wasalso a nice background. With some stamped, colored and cut-out candles and washitape and some sticker images this turned out exactly as what my idea was at the start:

Now I used this stencil in these 2 ways, I got more and more ideas to use this stencil in different ways, but that is something I will go 'play' with another time; after this project I wanted to use something else...

Nog maar een keer meteen het stuk papier waarop ik een stencil schoonmaakte gebruikt. En ik vond passend washitape waarvan je bijna niet kunt zien dat het erop geplakt is. Wat nieuwe sticker afbeeldingen en een tekst van een van mijn nieuwe stempelsets die ik met mijn verjaardag kreeg en dat was het weer. Dit keer een best snel project...

I used the piece of paper on wich I cleaned a stencil right away. And I found some washitape that fit so good; you can bearly see that it is sticked on top of the paper. Some new sticker omages and a sentiment from one of my new stampsets that I got for my Birthday and that was all. This time a relativily quick project...

Binnen in de warmte / Inside in the warmth

Tja, wat moet je met dat weer... zag het gisteren, na de hele dag een grote regenbui van 's nachts tot 's avonds te hebben gekregen, er weer bijna normaal uit, heeft het vannacht weer een beetje gesneeuwd... Zonde toch; met zo'n dun laagje zijn de sneeuwpoppen niet goed te herstellen én zie je die paar gladde plekken die over waren gebleven niet. Maar ja we doen het er maar mee...

Ik ben lekker doorgegaan met een niewe tekststempel en nieuwe washitape en figuurtjes en een van mijn (vele) favoriete stencils.

Well, what can you do with this kind of weather...Yesterday, after a heavy downpour from the night until the evenong, it looked almost normal again, but then it snowed a little bit last nght... What a shame; with such a thin layer the snowmen are hard to repair, and you can't see the few remainng slick spots. But hey, we'll make do...

I kept on going with a new text stamp, new washitape, figures and one of my (many) favorite stencils.

Veel Gelliplate achtergronden / A lot of Gelliplate backgrounds

Afgelopen stempel donderdagmiddag hebben we weer eens ouderwets een techniek of materiaal 'in de spotlight' gezet. We zijn aan de gang gegaan met bladeren en de Gelliplate! Het is tenslotte herfst! Heerlijk om te doen en dus had ik al gauw een hele stapel achtergronden. 

Het enige wat altijd een beetje vervelend is, is, dat je met verf werkt... dat betekend dat erop stempelen en kleuren absoluut niet makkelijk is... En tja, ik ben geen fan van telkens uitknippen van gestempelde afbeeldingen, dus deze zullen vaak als scrap achtergrond gebruikt worden, samen met alle spulletjes die ik daar nog steeds voor heb van toen ik veel scrapte. Of ze worden gebruikt om iets uit te stanzen of zo...

Dit is de 'productie' die ik had na 2 1/2 uur met verf werken op de Gelliplate:

Last stamping Thursday afternoon we highlighted a technique or material like we did in the first years of our afternoons. We played with leaves and the Gelliplate! It's Autumn after all! It was lovely to do that again and so I soon made a whole stack of backgrounds.

The thing that is a bit annoying is that you're working with paint... wich means stamping and coloring on them isn't that easy. And well, I'm not a fan of constantly cutting out stamped images, so these will often used as backgrounds, along with supplies I still have from when I was scrapping a lot. Or they'll be used to die-cut something out or something else...

This is the 'production' I had after 2 1/2 hours of working with the Gelliplate:

En dus ben ik toen gestopt met de verf en heb nog wat achtergronden met inkt gemaakt om het af te ronden, voordat ik er een uitkoos en deze maakte:

Springend meisje op een 1e print / Jumping girl on a first print

Nog maar een keer het meisje met het springtouw gebruikt, want ik vind deze stempel zo leuk! En het leek me wat om haar in een herfstsfeer te plaatsen. Op deze 1e print na het schoonmaken van een stencil op aquarelpapier van het stencil dat ik gebruikte op dit project heb ik na het erop afdrukken van het stencil heb ik de tanden met een papiertje wat uitgeveegd. (een 2e print hiervan heb ik hier gebruikt) Ook hierop heb ik het kleurenpalet weer klein gehouden.

Because I think this one stamp is so beautiful I used the girl with the jump rope stamp again. And I thought it would be fun to place her in in a fall background. On this first print from cleaning a stencil I used on this project on aquarel paper I smudged the edges a bit with a piece of paper after printing the stencil on to it. (I used the 2nd print here) I kept the color palette small here as well.

Soms maak je een stencil schoon op een stuk aquarelpapier en verwacht je er niet veel van... en dan word je verrast door de sterke afdruk. Dat gebeurde toen ik het stencil dat ik gebruikte op dit project zo schoon maakte. En ik kon er 3x een goede print vanaf halen! Vandaag de tweede. (Je kan de 1e print hier vinden)

Sometimes you clean a stencil on a piece of aquarelpaper and you aren't expecting much of it... and than the strong print surprises you. That happened when I cleaned the stencil that I used on this project. And I could get 3 good prints of it! Today the second one. (You can find the first print here)

Washitape 4 / Washitape 4

Zoals ik in deze post en deze post en deze post al vertelde, heb ik te veel washitape...Wie weet heb jij dat ook wel. En ik gebruik het te weinig. Dus heb ik een hoop rolletjes bij elkaar gezocht en er een aantal vellen om uit te stanzen mee gemaakt. Twee van de vellen heb ik gebruikt om bloemblaadjes te stanzen en samen met de blaadjes uit vellum gestanst heb ik een lekkere speelruimte voor de katten gemaakt:

As I mentioned in this post and in this post and this post, I have too many washitapes...Maybe you have that too. And I don't use it enough. So I searched a bunch of washitape and made a few paperpieces to die-cut from with them. Two of the pieces I used to die-cut petals and together with the pettals wich I die-cut from vellum I made a fun playground for the cats:

Washitape 3e / Washitape 3e

Zoals ik in deze post en in deze post al vertelde, heb ik te veel washitape...Wie weet heb jij dat ook wel. En ik gebruik het te weinig. Dus heb ik een hoop rolletjes bij elkaar gezocht en er een aantal vellen om uit te stanzen mee gemaakt. 

En ik had een aantal stanzen om een mooie bloem mee te maken die ik steeds maar niet gebruikte omdat ik andere dingen voorrang gaf. Die heb ik nu eindelijk met die vellen en wat resten en hele vellen bedrukt vellum gebruikt om dit te maken:

2e print Mid Century Modern en Washitape 2e

Zoals ik in deze post al vertelde, heb ik te veel washitape...Wie weet heb jij dat ook wel. En ik gebruik het te weinig. Dus heb ik een hoop rolletjes bij elkaar gezocht en er een aantal vellen om uit te stanzen mee gemaakt. 

Deze gekartelde cirkels heb ik gestanst uit een vel gemaakt met bont Mid Century Modern washitape en geplakt op een aquarel papier met daarop een stencil schoongemaakt dat ik gebruikte voor dit project. Dit was de 2e print die ik daarvan 'trok'. (De 1e vind je hier.)

Met een roze effen achtergrond en epoxy letters was deze voor mij af.

As I mentioned in this post and in this popst I have too many washitapes...Maybe you have that too. And I don't use it enough. So I surched a bunch of washitape and made a few paperpieces to die-cut from with them. 

I die-cut hese serrated circles out of a piece of paper with all Mid Century Modern washitape and glued on a piece of aquarel paper on wich I cleaned a stencil that I used for this project. This was the second print I 'took' from it. (You can find the first one here.)

With a pink plain background and epoxy letters I thought it was finished.

Washitape 1e

Oké, ik weet het; ik heb te veel washitape... Wie weet heb jij dat ook wel. En ik gebruik het te weinig. Maar ik heb ook nog heel veel andere dingen in mijn kleine hobbykamer liggen die ik tegenkom nu ik er weer eens hoognodig aan het opruimen ben. Een van de dingen die ik tegenkwam was dit meisje op een stuk aquarel papier gemaakt door een scheerschuimtechniek door een stencil te doen. Leuk en wat dromerig, maar al die tijd wist ik niet wat ik er verder op zou maken.

Tot nu dan! Ik heb washitape in zachte tinten gezocht en ook een tekst en die erop geplakt.

Oké, I know; I have too many washitape...  But I have a lot of otherer things in my little craft room that I find again now that I am  tiding it up ( wich was long overdo... )

One of the things I found was this girl on a piece of watercolor paper, made by using a shaving vream technique through a stencil, A fun one and a bit dreamy, but all this time I didn't know what else I would put onto that. 

Until know! I looked for washitape in soft colors and also a text and applied those.

Pluk de dag / Carpe Diem

Een kaart maken voor mijn vader voor Vaderdag vind ik best wel een lastige elk jaar... Zo ook dit jaar, tot ik deze stanzen op een van de donderdag middagen bij Josje zag en mocht lenen. Die gecombineerd met een heel nieuw stencil, dat ik ondanks mijn grote verzameling toch kocht, omdat het zo mooi en anders was als allen die ik al heb.

En weer eens wat stukjes papier opgemaakt met een nieuwe stans.

Ik ben blij dat m'n vader 'm leuk vond...

To make a card for my Father for Fathers day is not that easy for me every year... So this year it was the same, until I saw these die-cuts from Josje on one of the Thursday afternoons and could borrow them from here. I combined these with a new stencil, that I bought in spite of my big collection of stencils, because it is such a beautiful and different one as the ones I already have.

And I again used some snippets with a new die-cut.

I'm glad my dad liked it...

Als laatste maakte ik op een van de gezellige stempel donderdagmiddagen dit project, maar ik kreeg het niet helemaal af. De achtergrond is weer een stuk aquarelpapier waarop ik het stencil schoonmaakte dat ik op het geëmbosste papier heb gebruikt. Het geëmbosste papier maakte ik met een nieuwe embossingfolder. Het was al jaren geleden dat ik er een kocht, maar deze past, vind ik overal bij...  Het meisje is gestempeld en uitgeknipt, al doe ik dat liever niet, nu ontkwam ik er niet aan. Thuis heb ik de papieren op elkaar geplakt en washitape erover verdeeld.

The last project that I made on one of the fun stamp Thursday afternoons was this project, but I ran out of time and didn't finish it. The background is again a piece of aquarelpaper on wich I cleaned the stencil that I used on the embossed  paper. The embossed paper was made with a new embossing folder. It has been years that I bought one, but this is one that fits, I think, anything...

The girl is stamped and cut out; something I rather like to avoid, but this time it couldn't be done differently. At home I glued the papers on top of eachother and added the washitape.
